On March 11, Huang Kainan, the vice president of Shandong University, weihai campus, led a team of personnel from the Preparatory Office of the SDU-ANU Joint Science College to Shanghai Jiao Tong University to conduct research and discussion on Sino-foreign cooperation in running school. Li Xinwan, secretary of the Party Committee and vice president of University of Michigan- Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute, along with executive director Song Liqun attended the discussion.
At the beginning of the conversation, Huang Kainan gave an account of the preparation and construction of SDU-ANU Joint Science College. He pointed out that Shanghai Jiao Tong University has a long history and rich experience in running Sino- Foreign school, which may offer some inspiration and enlightenment to the development of SDU-ANU Joint Science College through cooperation and communication. Afterwards, Li Xinwan and Song Liqun respectively introduced the development history, organization setup, the construction of teaching staff, and student management of the University of Michigan- Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute. Moreover, the two sides also had in-depth exchanges on Party Construction, rules and regulations in Sino-foreign cooperative schools. During the visit, Huang Kainan and his team investigated the conditions and facilities of the University of Michigan- Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute.
University of Michigan- Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute was jointly established by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the University of Michigan and approved by Ministry of Education as a no separate legal entity in 2006. The three undergraduate majors thereof are Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering, materials Science and Engineering.
