Personal Information

Anthony Hill is a Professor at the Research School of Chemistry at the ANU. He completed his undergraduate studies in chemistry at the University of Auckland in 1982 before pursuing his PhD studies at the University of Bayreuth, Germany on the organometallic chemistry of iminooxosulfuranes. In 1986, Anthony moved to the University of Bristol as a postdoctoral research fellow before taking up a lectureship at the University of Warwick. In 1991 he moved to Imperial College, London, where he was awarded a Leverhulme Trust Royal Society Senior Fellowship and was promoted to Professor before taking up his current position at the Australian National University. In addition to over 300 scientific publications, he is the author of the Royal Society of Chemistry textbook Organotransition Metal Chemistry and was for 10 years the editor of Advances in Organometallic Chemistry. His research covers a diversity of challenges in coordination and organometallic chemistry. Particular foci include unsaturated ligands involving metal–carbon multiple bonding and the interface of transition and main group chemistries. Considerable effort is directed towards the synthesis of new co-ligands which themselves do not necessarily take part in the transformations of other ligands but may moderate these indirectly.
