On 16 May, the 3rd Culture Roam event for the ANU visiting teachers to experience Bamboo Culture was held to promote interactions between the foreign teachers and the college teachers and students and encourage the students to communicate actively with the foreign teachers to broaden their global vision. The ANU teaching staff Sergey Kruk and his teaching assistants were invited as guests. Some student representatives participated in the event hosted by Yang Jieni, a 2022 cohort applied physics major student.

The event was divided into two parts: bamboo culture sharing and bamboo craft making. In the first part two students gave a vivid introduction to the Chinese traditional bamboo culture in three aspects, artistic features, daily uses and bamboo flute music appreciation. Meanwhile, Wu Xincheng, a 2023 cohort biology major student, played the bamboo flute on the spot, which created an immersive experience for the audience to appreciate the unique charm of traditional Chinese bamboo culture. In the second part the volunteer student illustrated the craft of bamboo weaving in detail and demonstrated its making process. Then, all the participants engaged in bamboo weaving in four groups with their own creative ideas and unique understanding, and everyone experienced the charm of traditional art and the joy of craftsmanship together. Their handicrafts showed a beautiful combination of individual insights and teamwork.

This event has enabled the students to both gain cultural knowledge and expand their international vision through communication and interaction with the ANU teachers, which has showcased the benefits of Chinese-foreign cooperative education and positive results achieved in promoting Chinese-Australian cultural exchange. All of these have contributed significantly to the cultivation of talents with a global vision and intercultural communication skills.
