The appointment ceremony for the members of the Joint Teaching Advisory Committee of SDU-ANU Joint Science College (JSC) was held in Room 211, Dianzi Building on the morning of January 19. Party Secretary Shan Bingbo, Executive Dean Lyu Guangshi, Vice Deans Chang Xiaomei and Bai Ming, and Director of Academic Affairs Office of JSC Sun Xiaochen as well as the committee members were present at the meeting chaired by the vice dean, Professor Bai Ming.
The newly appointed members of the Joint Teaching Advisory Committee of SDU-ANU Joint Science College are Qi Haitao, Vice Dean of School of Mathematics and Statistics, Zhang Xu, Director of the Department of Information and Computing Sciences, Lyu Yingbo, Vice Dean of School of Space Science and Physics, Jiang Yunguo, Director of the Department of Space Science, Ge Changzi, Vice Dean of Ocean School, Mu Dashuai, Director of the Department of Marine Science, Lyu Guangshi, Executive Dean of SDU-ANU Joint Science College, and the vice deans Chang Xiaomei and Bai Ming of JSC.
At the ceremony, Lyu Guangshi and Bai Ming awarded certificates respectively to all the newly appointed members. In the following discussion, Prof. Lyu first expressed his gratitude to the members and fully recognized their achievements in the development of undergraduate programs, teaching reform, and student guidance for the college. Prof. Lyu said that it was a tradition of Shandong University to attach importance to undergraduate education. The high-quality undergraduate teaching achievements were the achievements of the continuous efforts made by the past generations of Shandong University. The establishment of the committee was a new starting point for the college to improve the quality education. He hoped that the members would carry forward the fine tradition of Shandong University, putting on top priority the undergraduate teaching, and continue to contribute their wisdom and strength to the overall improvement of the teaching quality of the college.
All the members present voiced their opinions one after another, saying that they would continue to promote the teaching reform and student scientific research innovation programs. They would grow and work together with the college. In her speech, Chang Xiaomei stated that as a member of the Teaching Advisory Committee, she would earnestly take up her responsibilities in her work, offer advice, play an active role in supervision and evaluation with regard to teaching. The members also put forward suggestions on the future work of course docking between the colleges and schools, revising undergraduate programs, and co-building and sharing laboratories.
At the end of the ceremony, Shan Bingbo expressed her gratitude to the committee members. Ms. Shan said that the establishment of the Joint Teaching Advisory Committee was a specific measure for JSC to implement the college’s “integrated development” strategy and explore the “sharing and interconnecting” mechanism so as to share resources for better results. With close collaboration the Joint Teaching Advisory Committee could further concentrate the wisdom and strength of all the professors in the relative disciplines and schools to greatly improve the quality of cultivating talents of the college.
The Joint Teaching Advisory Committee will serve as a driving force for the college to improve the quality of teaching and deepen the teaching reform. It will also provide an important guarantee for the college to educate more outstanding talents.
