Vice President Liang Weiguo of Taiyuan University of Technology and his suite visited Shandong University, Weihai (SDUW) on April 12. Vice President Xia Lidong of SDUW met with the guests and they exchanged views on issues of university’s internationalization. Some staff members from the Preparatory Office of SDU-ANU Joint Science College (JSC) attended the meeting.
Xia Lidong first expressed warm welcome to the delegation. Then he briefed them on the development of SDUW and detailed the application and construction of the Chinese-foreign cooperative education projects as well as JSC. Liang Weiguo gave a brief introduction to the basic situation of his university. He hoped that with this visit they could learn and use SDUW’s operation and management experience in the Chinese-foreign cooperative education projects and institution for reference to accelerate the progress of the internationalization of Taiyuan University of Technology.
Besides, the relative staff members from the Preparatory Office of JSC talked about the application of the institution. Then the two sides conducted an in-depth discussion on such specific issues concerning Chinese-foreign cooperative education as application materials, party building work, rules and regulations, financial management, introduction of high-quality resources, educational management, and student management, etc.
Taiyuan University of Technology is on the list of Double First- Class University Plan with worldwide first-class disciplinary development, a national key university, and one of the first group of 61 universities enlisted in “the excellent engineer training programs” by the Chinese Ministry of Education. The three disciplines, materials science, engineering and chemistry have entered the top 1% of ESI’s global rankings.
