Six sophomores and four seniorstudents currently studying in ANU were invited to share their experience of studying and living on campus offline and online respectively. The event was hosted by Ms. Miao Yujing.
At the beginning, Chang Xiaomei expressed her warm welcome and high expectations to the new students. She hoped that they will embrace and inherit the college culture and aim to pursue their dreams freely in Shandong University imbued with the noble spirit of the century-old history and culture, develop in the atmosphere of incessant integration of Chinese and Western cultures and become enterprising young people armed with enthusiasm and knowledges so as to carve their own place in the historic course of national rejuvenation and realize their life value in the course of national prosperity and world peace, as stated in the Dean’s Message. She also hoped that they will treasure their precious university time and get ready to meet future challenges and their better selves.
The whole event has a clear focus and rich agenda. The excellent senior students shared their feelings and experience from such aspects as student union work, social practice, university associations, efficient ways of studying their major courses as well as studying and living on ANU campus. All the audience were so absorbed and enchanted by their marvelous and humorous talk that they even forgot the time. They were extremely active in asking questions and interacting with the seniors. The event was finished in the end at 6 pm, one and a half hours longer than planned.
Finally, Miao Yujing concluded by encouraging the new students to keep a positive and optimistic attitude towards the new university life at the beginning of the new phase of life. The future is full of infinite hope and possibilities. Opportunities are always reserved for those who are prepared.
This Coffee Time event is beneficial in that the freshmen can gain valuable second-hand experience in many aspects and have a clearer and overall understanding of university study and life. It provides an opportunity for them to communicate closely with the senior students, and helps them with their academic and life planning.
