JSC Students Win Prizes in 2022 National Mathematical Contest in Modeling

Over thirty students from SDU-ANU Joint Science College have won totally twenty-one national and provincial prizes in the 2022 National Mathematical Contest in Modeling closed recently. Among them 2020 cohort mathematics major students Han Aolin and Sun Ruohan won national first prize and their team was awarded “Baltamatica Mathematical Modeling Star” cup, the only one in the undergraduate group, under the guidance of faculty advisors Prof. Qi Haitao and Ms. Chi Xiaoqing.

  Starting in 1992, this national mathematical contest in modeling, currently the largest-scale basic disciplinary contest in China’s universities, is co-hosted annually by Higher Education Department of Education Ministry and China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. This year over 160,000 students forming 54,257 teams (49,424 undergraduate teams and 4833 junior college teams) from 1606 universities/university campuses across China, U.K. and Malaysia registered and participated in it.

  JSC has been attaching great importance to the students’ overall development focusing on improving their style of study and core competences with various means of student support mechanism and platform providing them with excellent resources of scientific and creative intelligence. In this contest, all the JSC contestants performed well by overcoming difficulties and working closely and cooperatively. Altogether three students have won national first prize; two have won national second prize; ten have won provincial first prize; nine have won provincial second prize and five have won provincial third prize. They have all won honour for the university and the college.
