In order to help the students further understand the joint programme,“3+1+1” model and the policies concerning going to study in ANU and plan for their better future, SDU-ANU Joint Science College (JSC) held three sessions on 18 and 19, March in Linglong Auditorium and University Hotel successively. Vice Dean Chang Xiaomei and Deputy Party Dean Wang Wei were present and hosted the sessions respectively. Arthur Xu, Deputy Head of International Relations and Partnerships, ANU College of Science, made speeches as a special guest. The college counselors, English teachers, the 2020, 2021 and 2022 cohort students together with their parents participated in the sessions.
In Q&A session on “3+1+1” model for 2020 cohort students and experience sharing meeting on study and life in ANU for 2021 cohort students, Arthur Xu introduced the general information about ANU and its advantages in QS world university ranking, scientific research achievements, social influence and average academic staff to student ratio, etc. to highlight its education level and quality. Then he explained thoroughly the model and such related issues as pathways, conditions, application, master programmes and career prospects. He answered questions from the students and their parents in detail about tuition fee, scholarship application and assessment, ANU campus environment, accommodation, student services and so on. The representatives of the first group of JSC students studying in ANU shared their life and study experience in Australia via videos online. Both Arthur and the student speakers offered suggestions to the current students in JSC.
At the buffet party, the 2022 cohort students enjoyed interactive games besides listening to Arthur Xu’s introduction to the joint programme and Q&A on studying in ANU. The participants talked freely about studying in ANU in near future. In warm and lively atmosphere Arthur Xu answered the students’ personalized questions and offered his customized advice and solutions to the students, which reflects advantages of Sino-foreign cooperative education.
The meetings and consultation are conducive to helping the students understand the joint programme better and plan for their future study in more detail. The events will effectively stimulate high-development of the Sino-foreign cooperative educational institution.
