The event was co-chaired by Prof. Chang Xiaomei, Vice Dean of JSC and Ms. Zhou Junxia, head of the Academic English Group.
Through online and offline interactions, students asked questions about their major studies, scientific research, lifestyle, customs, etc. Dr. Yu Pei said that knowledge of science needs to be connected with knowledge of other disciplines. Students should break through the boundaries among disciplines to engage in a more open way of learning to develop a comprehensive knowledge system. Prof Joe Hope also shared his hobbies in daily life with students such as playing guitar, singing and writing novels in spare time.
This activity is beneficial to the students in that they have got enlightenment in course learning, cultural differences and daily life, etc., which has helped improve their communication skills in English and broaden their horizons for an all-round development. Additionally, the activity has been strongly supported by the ANU staff and professors, which has further deepened the cooperation and exchanges between the two universities, enhanced the friendship with ANU and promoted internationalisation of the college.
