To further improve the quality of running the college and the capability of cultivating international talents, SDU-ANU Joint Science College held a discussion on English teaching in Room 508, Dianzi Building on the morning of May 14th. Prof. Chang Xiaomei and Prof. Bai Ming, two vice deans of JSC and the team members of academic English course attended the meeting.
Prof. Bai first spoke highly of the work done by the team of academic English teaching. Then he talked about how to further improve the quality of English teaching, explore ways for interdisciplinary integration, combine the academic English course with the college's goal of cultivating international talents and implement moral education in the English class, etc.
Prof. Chang introduced the concept of graded teaching and its key points for implementation. She suggested differentiated teaching to teach students in accordance with their aptitude so that each student can achieve the best personalised development. Then a plan was agreed on for English teaching methodology workshops later.
Finally, both Chang Xiaomei and Bai Ming encouraged the teachers to conduct actively more in-depth teaching and research projects besides completing the daily classroom teaching to improve continuously their teaching capability and quality.
