On the morning of May 12, 2021, Liu Hai, Vice President of SDU, Weihai visited SDU-ANU Joint Science College for research and investigation, providing guidance for teaching reform and management. In his company were Wang Xiangyun, director of the Teaching Affairs Office, Zhao Hui and Song Song, deputy directors of the Teaching Affairs Office and other relevant staff of the same office. Leaders of JSC, Party Dean Shan Bingbo, Executive Dean Prof. Lv Guangshi, Vice Deans Prof. Chang Xiaomei and Prof. Bai Ming, and Deputy Party Dean Fan Qixue attended the meeting and made a work report.
At the meeting, the leaders of JSC reported the current work in teaching and education of the college presenting the problems and difficulties encountered in the actual work, and fully communicated and exchanged views with the staff of the Teaching Affairs Office on such issues as the talent cultivation system and teaching reform of the college as well as joint contribution to and shared benefits of the resources of the three campuses.
Wang Xiangyun responded to the issues concerning undergraduate teaching and education work, and put forward suggestions on textbook compilation and course construction. Besides, he illustrated briefly the policy of teaching and education project fund reform of the university.
Liu Hai listened carefully to the reports and views exchanged, and gave his opinions and suggestions on the issues discussed at the meeting. He emphasized that the establishment of JSC was a milestone in the international cooperation of Shandong University, and the university held high expectations on JSC. Thus, the talent cultivation work of the college must be of high standards and requirements. JSC should make full use of the rich teaching resources, enhance the teaching process management and improve the undergraduate programme and quality of running the college. He asked the college to coordinate with the relevant administration offices on campus to try to solve timely the problems encountered together in order to push forward the development of the undergraduate education of the college.
