On the morning of 17 June, 2022, the 4th Coffee Time 2022 (No. 12) Academic and Cultural Exchange event and a farewell party for the 2019 cohort students who are going to study in the Australian National University was held in R. 107, Dianzi Building. Prof. Lv Guangshi, Executive Dean of JSC, Mr. Li Shujun, Chairman of Shandong University Alumni Association in Australia and Prof. Yu Lin, Deputy Dean of ANU School of Computing attended online. Party Dean Liang Fengjun, Vice Dean Chang Xiaomei and Deputy Party Dean Wang Wei of JSC, Deputy Party Dean Sun Ning of School of Mechanical, Electrical & Information Engineering, some relevant teachers and advisers were present in person. Nearly 70 students who are going to study in ANU participated online and onsite. The event was presided over by Ms. Zhou Junxia, a teacher of academic English course.
At the beginning, Liang Fengjun expressed his congratulations to the students on their completing the 3-year study in JSC and going to ANU for further study. He hoped that while studying abroad, they are supposed to tell China’s stories well and show the spirit of Shandong University students with a global vision and a strong sentiment to love families and the motherland. Besides, they will help each other and study hard.
Prof. Lv Guangshi conveyed his congratulations to the students on behalf of the college. He stressed that one’s life is like playing chess with each step taken having a decisive effect on one’s future destiny. He asked the students to seize the opportunity and face challenges to achieve more.
Prof. Chang Xiaomei hoped that the students will give full play to their role as bridges connecting the two universities in order to enhance the friendly partnership and pursue excellence for serving the motherland with their scientific knowledge and technology in near future. Sun Ning wished the students safe and well while studying hard in ANU. Wang Wei hoped that the students will treasure the time, study diligently and live up to SDU’s expectations.
Li Shujun extended his warm welcome to the students going to Australia. He then introduced Shandong University Alumni Association in Australia and its dedication to strengthening the bond between the alumni and university, especially the remarkable contributions made by the alumni in scientific field in Australia. Prof. Yu Lin gave a detailed introduction to student associations and study and life in ANU. All the above sharing and talk are of great help to the students.
To the students’ surprise, blessing videos prepared by their classmates and teachers were played in which good memories of the past three years were recalled and their best wishes were conveyed. In the games and interactive activities that livened up the atmosphere, the room was full of laughter and cheers. Finally, the farewell party ended with a group photo taken, and the students are to embark on the new journey with thorns and roses ahead.
