On the afternoon of 30 June, Mr. Jay Poria, Head of International Relations and Partnerships – STEMM, ANU College of Science; ANU College of Health & Medicine; ANU College of Computing, Engineering & Cybernetics and Mr. Arthur Xu, Regional Manager, International Relations and Partnerships – STEMM, ANU College of Science; ANU College of Health & Medicine; ANU College of Computing, Engineering & Cybernetics visited SDU-ANU Joint Science College (JSC) and had a meeting with JSC leadership in R. 508, Dianzi Building. The executive dean of JSC, Lv Guangshi chaired the meeting.
First of all, Lv Guangshi expressed warm welcome to Jay and Arthur. He then said that in the past four years both sides acted with concerted effort in the face of pandemic challenges to solve problems cooperatively and build a platform for the students’ diversified development and have achieved remarkable results in cultivating talents by making full use of available resources to upgrade the cooperative education and enhance the college’s internationalised atmosphere. However, there are still many difficulties in running the college that both sides need to overcome by taking this exchange as an opportunity to further expand high-level collaboration and communication and provide better education resources to more excellent students.
Jay Poria expressed his thanks for the warm reception as well as the great effort put into the cooperative education in the past years. He highly recognised JSC’s education quality and excellent performance of the first group of students studying in ANU. He said that despite the challenges in the past four-year development, both sides have maintained good cooperative relations, and JSC has become well-known home and abroad. In the post-pandemic time, deeper and broader collaboration in teaching and scientific research and exchanges are expected for mutual learning and win-win development for both sides.
Vice deans Chang Xiaomei and Bai Ming, and deputy Party dean Wang Wei talked about issues like the orientation week for new students, ANU course teaching in JSC, and students’ short-term visit between ANU and JSC.
Party dean Liang Fengjun expressed warm welcome again to Jay and Arthur in his conclusion. He hoped that both sides will consolidate the achievements made and join hands for better development by further enhancing the friendship and education quality to expand the influence of the cooperation programme and create a new pattern for Chinese-foreign cooperative education.
