On the morning of 9 June, a working team of foreign affairs in SDU-ANU Joint Science College (JSC) was set up and received the 1st training in R.508, Dianzi Building. Lv Guangshi, Executive Dean and Chang Xiaomei, Vice Dean were present in person and made remarks. All the team members attended the training.
Lv Guanshi pointed out that as the first Chinese-foreign cooperative education institution approved by the Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China to carry out undergraduate education program in Shandong University, JSC attaches great importance to its internationalised development. With an increase in international communication in a full range and at multi-levels in the post-Covid period, higher demands are raised for better management and service in foreign affairs work. He stressed discipline and risk awareness and institutionalised and scientific management.
Chang Xiaomei noted that JSC’s internationalisation work is of significance for Shandong University to make progress to making itself a world-class university and developing world-class disciplines. Therefore, it is essential to set up a professional working team of high-quality. She asked all the team members to follow Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy in the new era and carry out the job with a strong sense of mission and responsibility. She also encouraged the members to raise capability of cross-cultural communication in addition to language use and service work so as to tell Chinese stories well and present the image of China in dealing with foreign affairs.
Following the speeches, the team members exchanged their views on the current situation and the risks and challenges they were faced with in the work. In the end, Chang Xiaomei made clear each member’s duty and the work target and focus at the next stage.
