A fun sports event organised by the college teachers’ union was held on the campus sports ground on the afternoon of 9 May as a response to the nationwide fitness-for-all campaign, aiming to carry forward the sports spirit, enrich the faculty’s after-class life, and boost their physical and mental well-being, and meanwhile promote the cultural exchange between the college faculty and the ANU visiting teachers. The college faculty and staff as well as an ANU teacher participated.
The event was modelled after the university sports meeting, featuring a variety of fun outdoor items including both individual ones like softball toss, sandbag toss and soccer shot and team ones such as ball juggling with an inflatable mattress, straddling the inflatable dragon boat to move forward, volleyball passing, and running sideways with a volleyball squeezed between two sportsmen’s backs, with the latter requiring a better teamwork to win. All the participants could team up freely. The whole event was lively and exciting with everyone intoxicated into communication, relaxation and joy while engaging in fierce competition with each other. It ended up in laughter and cheers.
This meaningful event is significant in enhancing the cohesion and centripetal force of the college and the faculty’s sense of group honour and team spirit. It has served as a platform for the faculty to exercise more and strengthen their fitness so as to continue to devote themselves to their work and to the development of the university and the college as well.
