
On the morning of April 2, Australian Ambassador to China, H.E. Scott Dewar, led a delegation to visit Shandong University (SDU). Qiu Daobin, Secretary of the Party and Work Committee, Shandong University, Weihai (SDUW) held a meeting with the delegation.


Qiu Daobin emphasized that SDU attaches great importance to international exchange and cooperation and has established long-term and strong partnerships with several Australian universities. Both sides have achieved tangible results in cooperative education programs and student-teacher exchanges. He expressed hope that Ambassador’s visit would serve as an opportunity to further cooperation and exchange with Australian universities, leveraging both countries’ leading disciplines and resources under the framework of government collaboration.
H.E. Scott Dewar acknowledged SDU as a prestigious university with a rich history and a longstanding relationship with Australian universities. He noted that the frequent visits between the leaderships of China and Australia in recent years have provided direction for future educational cooperation. He highlighted the broad potential for further educational collaboration between the two countries and looked forward to expanding university-level educational cooperation and exchanges across the two nations.


Ms. Rachel Lynch, First Secretary (Education) at the Australian Embassy in China, introduced recent reforms in the Australian education sector. Professor Lyu Guangshi, Executive Dean, SDU-ANU Joint Science College, presented a report on the development of the college.


During the visit, the delegation also toured the exhibition of SDU-ANU Joint Science College and engaged in friendly conversations with faculty and students.

Xia Lidong, Vice President, SDUW, relevant staff from Weihai Campus international office and SDU-ANU Joint Science College, as well as officials from Shandong Foreign Affairs Office, Weihai Foreign Affairs Office, attended the meeting.
