On the evening of May 21st, the 7th Scientific Research Causerie was successfully held by SDU-ANU Joint Science College (JSC) in R.107 in Songxin Building. The biology and physics teaching teams from the Australian National University (ANU), led by Marcin Adamski and Aaron Tranter, as well as the college students attended the event, hosted by Ma Wenxuan, a applied chemistry major student, 2023 cohort.

The event was themed “Enhancing Postgraduate Research Literacy”, focusing on sharing insights about academic and research planning during overseas study. ANU faculty members provided practical advice based on their professional backgrounds and research fields. They emphasized the importance of cultivating scientific thinking and capabilities, particularly innovative and critical thinking, while also building a solid foundation in fundamental skills. Additionally, they highlighted the value of teamwork and collaborative exploration. Furthermore, the faculty shared details about daily academic life and laboratory facilities at ANU, offering guidance to help students with their academic planning and career development.
Following the discussion, the host guided participants in a hands-on activity—creating Peking Opera-inspired hair accessories. Using materials such as colored ribbons, beads, and feathers, the teachers and students incorporated traditional cloud and phoenix motifs into their designs. Through steps like wrapping, embellishing, and shaping, they crafted unique hair accessories that blended Peking Opera aesthetics with modern style.

By combining academic dialogue with cultural practice, this event has not only deepened students' understanding of research pathways but also fostered cross-cultural exchange with creative crafting. In the future, the college will continue to organize diverse activities to promote cultural interaction, helping students enhance their research competencies and achieve well-rounded development in a cross-cultural setting.
