On the afternoon of 2 June, the 3rd Coffee Time 2022 (No. 11) for the students going to study in ANU and a webinar for the pre-departure of the students and their parents holding offer letters from ANU was held in R.107, Dianzi Building. Ms. Ellin Bye, Deputy Manager, Student Services, ANU College of Science, Ms. Zoe Zhao, Manager, Student Recruitment & Data System, AEMG, Mr. Jay Poria, Head of International Relations and Partnerships, ANU College of Science and Mr. Arthur Xu, Regional Manager, International Relations and Partnerships, ANU College of Science attended virtually. JSC Party Dean, Liang Fengjun also attended online. Vice Dean of JSC, Prof. Chang Xiaomei and Ms. Zhou Junxia from academic English teaching group were present in person, together with 61 students who are going to study in ANU and their parents participating online and offline. The event was hosted by Mr. Arthur Xu.
At the beginning, Arthur introduced the guests and expressed warm welcome to the students who are going to study in ANU. Then Zoe shared detailed pre-departure information including entry requirements, Covid prevention policy, transportation in Canberra and application for dormitory with the students. Ellin mainly focused on enrolment matters such as registration, campus account activation and orientation week. Arthur Xu gave his suggestions on pre-departure preparation and safe travel tips. Following the introductions, the students asked questions actively about living and studying in ANU as well as campus culture, local infrastructure, etc. which were answered patiently by the guests in a friendly and cheerful atmosphere.
The webinar is helpful for the students and their parents to understand clearly issues concerning studying and living in ANU so as to prepare well before the departure and feel more comfortable with the overseas study experience. It is also conducive to raising the students’ safety awareness and ensuring a smooth transition from domestic to foreign environment.
