A delegation led by Lv Guangshi, Executive Dean, the SDU-ANU Joint Science College (JSC), Liang Fengjun, Party Dean, JSC, Xu Jian, Director, the University Facilities Services, SDUW and Zhang Zhengwu, Deputy Director, the Office of CPC Affairs / the President and University Secretariat, SDUW visited Haide College, Ocean University of China, Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology University of South Australia An De College, Ulster College at Shaanxi University of Science and Technology and Queen Mary University of London Engineering School, Northwestern Polytechnical University from 8 to 10 March for in-depth exchanges and close communication to upgrade the quality of cooperative education with the foreign partner and promote the development of the college by learning their advanced experience in preparing for the evaluation on the Chinese-foreign cooperative educational institutions, Party building work, student management, teaching workforce building, teaching quality control system, infrastructure building and hardware facilities, etc. Some of the college staff also went in company.
During the visit, the delegation had thorough exchanges and discussions with the leaders of the institutions, esp. on their distinctive educational features and advantages. At Haide college, they learnt about its developing goals, disciplinary building, college organisation and mode of talent cultivation, etc. from Party Dean Qin Shanghai’s introduction, focusing on their good experience and practice in upgrading college conditions and facilities. At An De College, the two sides had a detailed exchange on the college’s successful experience in preparing for the evaluation by the Chinese Ministry of Education in 2021 following Executive Dean Xiong Zhongming’s introduction to the college’s history, Party building work, curricula system, quality assurance system and talent cultivation, etc. At Ulster College, Vice Dean Xue Chaohua introduced the college’s development status and medium- and long-term plan from such aspects as education philosophy and goals, undergraduate programmes, college premises, curriculum development, student management and future development. Then the both sides mainly discussed issues like daily management, institutional development and preparatory work for the evaluation on the Chinese-foreign cooperative educational institutions by the Chinese Ministry of Education. At Queen Mary University of London Engineering School, the delegation learned about the measures they have taken to upgrade talent cultivation, teaching quality assurance system and internationalized education from Dean Fan Xiaoli’s introduction to the school’s development strategies and new mode of talent cultivation.
This visit has enhanced communication and cooperation with these institutions and is significant for JSC to pursue high-quality development based on its own conditions. Under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era the college faculty and staff will base the work on the development reality and learn from the institutions’ good experience and practice as a useful reference to deepen the reform of mechanism and system and raise the standard of education so as to get fully prepared for the evaluation on the institution by the Chinese Ministry of Education and cultivate high-level internationalized and versatile talents who can meet the demands of the new era.
