Swinburne College SDUST Delegation Visits JSC for Research and Exchange

A delegation of four from Swinburne College, Shandong University of Science and Technology (SDUST), Jinan headed by Fan Mingqu, Deputy Director, Management Committee and Director, Office of Academic Affairs and Scientific Research, SDUST, Jinan; Vice Dean, Swinburne College visited SDU-ANU Joint Science College (JSC) for research and exchange on the morning of 1 June. JSC Executive Dean Lv Guangshi, Party Dean Liang Fengjun, Vice Dean Bai Ming, and the relevant staff attended the meeting.

Lv Guangshi extended a warm welcome to the delegation and gave a broad overview of JSC including the two cooperative partners, development history, undergraduate programmes, faculty, course teaching by the Australian partner, enrolment and employment, focusing on the college’s distinctive characteristics of deep exchange and integration with the foreign partner and innovative mode of talent cultivation with competitiveness. Liang Fengjun then made a brief introduction to the work of strengthening Party leadership and team building, etc. He said that there is much room for exchange and cooperation between the two Chinese-foreign cooperative educational institutions.

Fan Mingqu spoke highly of JSC’s achievements in cooperative education with the foreign partner and specified the purpose of the visit. He stated that the rich experience and beneficial practice JSC gained in cultivation mode, teaching and so on is all worth learning by Swinburne College. He hoped that the two sides could learn the successful experience from each other to jointly promote the high-quality education and innovative development.

Then the two sides had a thorough discussion on issues of mutual concern, such as teaching workforce building, talent cultivation mode, programme planning, teaching operation, and efficiency in college management. They also exchanged views on some common problems arising from the reform and development of the two colleges. The both sides expressed the need for more mutual communication in the future to advance the cultivation of internationalised talents.


During the visit, the visitors were shown around the college facilities and the campus library. Besides, they visited the exhibition of SDUW’s development achievements since the 14th CPC National Congress.
