On the evening of November 21st, the 4th Scientific Research Causerie was held by Joint Science College (JSC) in R. 107, Songxin Building. The ANU physics teaching team, Prof. Joe Hope and his teaching assistants were invited as guests. Wang Wei, Deputy Party Dean, JSC attended the event and delivered the opening speech. A total of more than 20 college students participated in the event.

The session was themed “The Application and Exploration of Fundamental Disciplines”. The five ANU teachers each shared their scientific research journeys based on personal development and different research directions. They also offered insights into the frontiers of research in fundamental disciplines such as quantum mechanics and astronomy, as well as the practical applications they have achieved. Following the academic sharing, Chinese and Australian teachers and students experienced the Opera Face-Painting together. First, the development of Chinese drama and the unique cultural elements of the opera mask was explained, and then everyone selected a specific mask template to hand-paint so as to experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture up close.

The series of Scientific Research Causerie has effectively practiced the university’s educational philosophy of “Learning at SDU, Growing Up Happily” and established a broader platform for international academic and cultural exchange. In the future, the college will continue to attract international educational resources and strive to cultivate more high-quality talents with a global perspective and cross-cultural communication skills.
